What Unciv actually is

Unciv is a turn-based 4X strategy game built as an open-source reimplementation of the Civilization V ruleset. It is written from scratch: none of Firaxis’s code or art is used, which is exactly why it can be given away freely and why it fits in 25 MB rather than several gigabytes.

You get the full loop — found cities, research the tech tree, build wonders, fight wars, win by science, culture, domination or diplomacy. There are no adverts, no in-app purchases and no energy timers. The mod scene is enormous; you can bolt on new civs, rulesets and maps from inside the app.

Be clear about what you are getting. The presentation is functional rather than beautiful — flat 2D tiles, no cinematics, no voice acting. What it gives back is that it runs at full speed on a phone with 1 GB of RAM and a battery that lasts, which no commercial 4X on Android will do.

Why this game is on Apkoras

Unciv is licensed under the MPL-2.0, which explicitly permits redistribution. That licence is the written permission that lets us host the file at all. The game is an original work built from scratch, not a repack of anyone else’s software.

The file we serve is the original binary from the project’s own release, with the developers’ signature untouched. We do not repackage, re-sign or modify it. The SHA-256 in the panel is the hash of that exact file, and the source is one click away if you would rather read it than trust us.

Common questions

Is Unciv the same as Civilization V?

No. It is an independent, open-source game that reimplements the Civilization V ruleset from scratch. It shares no code or artwork with the Firaxis game, which is why it is free and legal to distribute.

Does it cost anything? Are there ads?

No to both. There are no adverts, no in-app purchases and no paid unlocks. The project is a volunteer effort.

Will it run on a cheap phone?

Yes, and this is one of its strongest points. It needs Android 5.0 and runs comfortably on 1 GB of RAM. The download is 25.8 MB.

Can I play multiplayer?

Yes. It supports hotseat on one device and online multiplayer through a server, including one you host yourself.

How do I check my download is genuine?

On Windows run certutil -hashfile Unciv-signed.apk SHA256 in Command Prompt. On Linux or macOS use sha256sum. Compare it to the SHA-256 on this page; they must match exactly.
