Fossify Gallery is a photo gallery that simply shows your photos. No cloud prompts, no AI suggestions, no ads, no account. It opens fast on cheap hardware, and its folder handling and sorting are better than most paid alternatives.
If you are here looking for Simple Gallery, this is what you want. Simple Mobile Tools was sold in 2023 and the original apps stopped receiving releases; the last Simple Gallery build is from October 2023. The community forked the code before that and continues it as Fossify. This is that fork: same lineage, same licence, still maintained.
Everything runs on the device. There is no sync, no backup service and no network permission doing anything interesting. That is the point, but it does mean your photos are exactly as safe as your phone is.

Fossify Gallery is licensed under the GPL-3.0, which explicitly permits redistribution. That licence is also precisely why this app can exist at all: the GPL is what let the community carry the original code forward when the previous owner stopped maintaining it.
